I grew up with this in my family Home simply eternally inspirational

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

The Recticular Activating System

The Winner's Circle Network
Did you know that you have a built-in screening device that either admits or blocks information?
The human nervous system contains a marvelous network of cells called the reticular formation, or Reticular Activating System - RAS for short. Its primary function is to screen out unimportant information that comes to you through your senses. Because of the work the RAS does for us, we are not aware of most of the information bombarding our senses every second of every day.
A mother with a new baby in the next room will sleep through jet planes screaming overhead, but she'll wake in an instant if that baby starts to cry. The airplane is louder, but not important, so it doesn't get through because her RAS keeps it out. Only information that is important - valuable or threatening - gets through.
Now when you set a goal, you declare a new significance - you make something important. And suddenly, information that never got through before is all around you. Did you ever decide to buy something - maybe a new HD television - and the next day all you see are advertisements for HD TV's? They were there all along, but now they're important to you, so you notice them.
Or you decide to take a vacation, and all of a sudden you are seeing vacation specials in your emails, online or in the newspapers and periodicals.
So when you set a goal and declare its importance, you'll find yourself noticing opportunities to help you achieve that goal that you never knew were there before. Try it. You will be surprised at how efficiently your RAS works for you.

The Best Role Models

The Winner's Circle Network
Just about everyone knows that good role models are important for a child's development, but have you ever thought about why this is true?
Now, if you are familiar with the work of The Pacific Institute, you know that it emphasizes visualization, because we have learned that our mental images, for the most part, are what determine our reality. In other words, the way we see ourselves and the world is what decides how we will behave. How we behave determines, to a very great extent, what will happen to us. Role models serve as living, breathing mental images that help us visualize the way we'd like to live.
What kinds of role models are best? No question about it, people we can actually get to know. You see, while it's helpful to read about an admirable person in a book or magazine, watch an inspiring life story in the movies, or watch successful people on TV, it is much more powerful when we can actually interact with someone who shows us possibilities for ourselves.
When we can do so on a daily or regular basis, as we do with parents, grandparents, teachers and so on, this has the most powerful impact of all. And remember parents, your children will learn far more from what you do than from what you say. The best role models only need to set a good example and let the kids figure the rest out for themselves.

Behaving Differently

The Winner's Circle Network -30/7/12 - Behaving Differently
Why is it so hard for some people to change? Let's talk about what happens when we try to behave differently.
Did you know that whenever you act differently than you really believe yourself to be, you produce stress? It doesn't matter whether the new behavior is worse or better than the old. If it's significantly different, it will generate stress. So how in the world do people change? Well, one way is to just grit your teeth and go ahead and throw yourself into the situation, act differently, and hang on until the new behavior is repeated often enough to feel comfortable.
But there is a better way, a less stressful way, a way that takes much of the pain and anxiety out of change. You change the mental picture you have of yourself first. You literally rehearse the future in your head, and you see yourself acting in the new way. You take yourself through it safely and comfortably in your mind, over and over again. Soon it doesn't feel like new behavior at all. It feels like something you routinely do.
So when it comes time for you to actually change, it's not such a big deal. It is "like you" to be that way. Any stress you experience will feel more like the excitement of an adventure than the anxiety of change. By the way, the process of repeatedly seeing yourself behave in a certain way is called visualization, and it works for countless individuals. Watch the athletes during the Olympics - a lot of them are visualizing their performance in the next race, the next event. It can work for you, too, and you don't need to be an Olympic athlete. Why not give it a try?

One Amazing Visit

Today the group had an amzing VIP visit from Kevin Mclernon Biggest Loser Winner 2012. Through the power of Social Media aka Twitter I had been personally inspired by Kevins story of success and wanted him to share his story with our group

From a rainy windy and wet Falkirk High Train station I met Kevin off the train and almost immediately we  continued our conversation around life and how one tweet can can change outlook and bring people together from as far a field as Scotland and Sunderland.

Kevin met with group and shared his own story immediately connecting on so many levels with our young people.

His story was very personal and from the heart and he delivered it passionately and clearly to the group we broke for lunch and when we returned we continued the conversation and look at realistic goal setting and Kevin supported our young people to look at setting there own goals and again through his personal approach really made an impact on the young people present.

By the end of the day Kevin had made such a positive impact that one of the young people stated that she did not want him to leave.

An amazing day and I warmly recommend you book Kevin and recommend him for your group, company or organisation as you will be postively affected by Kevin's honesty, clarity, passion and can do belief "If He Can You Can "
